The libraries at Touro University California and Touro University Nevada provide residents with library services, including access to extensive biomedical literature that is available online, as well as the assistance of full time librarians. Residents will have access to one or the other library, depending on the location of their residency. In addition to providing access to many online biomedical databases, library faculty and staff can assist with literature searches and can provide other library services.
Each site has excellent library resources that have received commendations on accreditation visits.
Touro University California library is staffed by a Library Director, an Electronic Services Librarian, and an Assistant Librarian, all of whom have MLS or MLIS degrees and are full time.
Touro University Nevada Jay Sexter Library has a Library Director, a Reference and Instruction Librarian, both of whom have MLS or MLIS degrees, and a Library Assistant, all of whom are full time.
Access is limited to interns and residents under contract with TUMEC postdoctoral programs. Trainee names and documentation must be submitted to the appropriate library by the Office of Medical Education at the training location. The appropriate library will then provide information on accessing that library’s resources to trainees. To find out which library supports your training location, contact the TUMEC office or the Graduate Medical Education office at your training site.
St. John’s Episcopal Hospital medical library is available to residents at St. John’s and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During off hours, weekends and holidays, residents can use their ID card for access.
